About Me Resume

@matmcal

I currently work as a web developer. Some of my personal projects are on Github. Though, I commit more to BitBucket for work. To learn is to grow in my opinion, and I believe in being a life-long learner. I enjoy learning languages. I am currently working through the Esperanto material on Duolingo. Being healthy is important to me. I practice daily deep breathing and meditation, I try to remain moving throughout each day, and I run at least a couple times a week. I'm a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. I write daily, and I occasionally post to Medium. I enjoy photography and some fo the better photos I take on Instagram. See my social links in the footer. My driving philosophy is "A wasted day is irrecoverable."

I love being in the web & software development field. It is something I'm passionate about. Other things I'm passionate about: language learning, being health conscious, recycling & other green efforts, and the arts. Things I don't find appealing include: poor grammar, chocolate, and binge watching TV. (I know those are quite random.) I tend to be reserved. I have noticed this seems to make people comfortable telling me ANYTHING. I spend most of my free time with friends and family or working on side projects. I love my amazing friends who that have helped me through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I am skilled in front-end and back-end web development. I use Laravel, MySQL, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS several hours each day. I have experience working with Linux servers using both Apache and Nginx, though I prefer the latter. Recently, I've taken interest in the Swift programming language and have been doing some work with it. I am currently employed as the lead developer for Commercial Equipment Broker LLC in Martin, TN. I have worked there for 3 years. For this company I have developed the following systems from scratch: Inventory Management / Employee Payroll / Customer Experience / Point of Sale. I truly enjoy working on and building business management software. I am always reading news in the software development world. I like to think I'm an informed individual when it comes to modern practices and techniques.
